48 Hours In Quebec City

It’s the most wonderful time of the year!!! After an 8ish hour drive from Toronto to Quebec, we spent the most magical day and a half in Old Quebec. The afternoon we got there we went into Old Quebec to try and get a photo before the sun went down (hi Instagram notice me I’m seriously trying so hard) #ChristmasContent. Jordan and I drove into the city not knowing what to expect and it was c r a z y. There were so many people, so many cars on the road, broken traffic lights, and so many roundabouts and one way streets. Pedestrians seriously don’t care in this city, they’ll cross the street without looking, its fine. We tried going to the Boutique de Noel, but it was so busy there was no way we could get a photo, so we improvised and walked around the corner and found the cutest lights and decorations outside a cafe. These are the photo we ended up getting.
After our instagram adventure, we went back to the Airbnb to get ready for dinner and our night in Old Quebec. Our airbnb was roughly a 5 minute drive from the entrance to Old Quebec, but we ended up taking an uber back that night. We visited a really cute cafe and I tried a creme brûlée macaroon (which was 11/10) and got to draw on my latte (which was 1/10 - I am not an artist). Later, we ate a super cute restaurant in Old Quebec that was really busy, but it was worth the wait. We also spent the night walking around Old Quebec, looking at all the lit up Christmas displays and going into stores. We visited the Fairmont Chateau Frontinac and the Toboggan hill, both were lit up and looked so pretty. The view from the Chateau overlooks the Saint Lawrence River. Tickets for the slide are $3 each, or 4 for $10. It wasn’t too busy that night, but the next day when we went back to try and take a photo at the top of the slide, there was a huge wait for a toboggan and then another to climb up. We ended up going up the next morning instead. #ChristmasContent.
Jordan, my brother and I all went to Quebec City when we were each in the seventh grade, so we quickly began remembering different things every time we saw something we recognized. The next day was our full day in Old Quebec, we got into town around 10:00am and went for breakfast. On our way there we discovered that the traffic light was still broken. After breakfast we walked around Old Quebec to see it in the daylight, and it was so cute. Theres a German style Christmas Market going on in Old Quebec right now, with lots of vendors selling food and drinks, and souvenirs. We made our way back to the Chateau Frontenac, to take the Funicular down to the Quartier Petit Champlain. The Funicular was $3.50 for 1 ride and the Quartier Petit Champlain was like a dream. It was like walking into Europe with the cobblestone roads, and it had so many adorable Christmas decorations. Everywhere you turn in Old Quebec City, there are Christmas trees lining the streets, an in and outside every store front and door. It was Christmas tree heaven. That night, Jordan and I drove back to Quartier Petit Champlain, and at night it’s honestly unreal. Every cobblestone street was lit up with Christmas lights, and the snow looked magical. Christmas trees line the streets, and there's one big tree by the church. Jordan and I stopped at a cozy little pub for a drink and something to eat and met the nicest people working at the bar.
Monday morning we quickly went back to the Chateau Frontenac to get a few souvenirs and to go down the toboggan one more time/get one last quick pic #ChristmasContent ;). I bought some maple syrup (obviously) and a cute hoodie for $30. The city of Old Quebec transformed overnight from a winter wonderland, to a normal Canadian city with construction and road closures. It was pretty difficult, but we finally made our way through all the one way streets and headed home, and they were finally fixing the broken traffic light!
48 hours was almost not enough time to spend in this magical city. I could easily spend another weekend here or even a week and not get tired of it, but now I’m writing this post on the drive home. Hopefully we’ll get to visit Quebec City again soon! Here are a few more photos from the trip!
