At the beginning of July, Jordan and I visited Tobermory Ontario. We decided to visit Port Dover to celebrate our anniversary. I had heard of Port Dover and had seen photos of the palm trees along the beach online. Since this trip was a super last minute decision, everywhere was booked up; so we stayed at a hotel that was a 10 minute drive from the town and beach of Port Dover. It was still worth it (we saved a bit of money this way too).
We spent 2 nights in Port Dover, since its a beach town, this is really all you need for a weekend staycation. The Saturday we got there we spent a few hours in the late afternoon at the beach, but it was pretty packed since it was the long weekend. It took a while for us to find a good spot with enough room.

Eventually we gave up and decided to walk around the town instead. There are a lot of cool stores and restaurants along the beach and down the main street. Theres some really cool rooftop patios, a great steakhouse, and then theres the famous restaurant with the palm trees on the beach, called The Beach House. We were pretty tired from the drive and the sun, and wanted to get up early to get a good spot on the beach, so we ended up going back to the hotel and ordering a pizza on the Saturday night.
Sunday was our full day in Port Dover, we woke up to be at the beach for 7am. This was perfect because there was literally no one there. This is how I got the photos with the palm trees. Instagram hack #247: Wake up before the sun so you beat the rush of tourists. We got a spot right by the palm trees, and spent the whole morning and early afternoon at the beach. Around 2 we decided to go walk up the streets to check out the stores and then go back to the hotel before going back into town. I ended up buying a cowboy hat because I’m a shopaholic.

On our way back into town that evening, we took a detour to a waterfall that wasn’t too far. It was just off the ride of the road, and was super pretty.

After, we decided to go to the Beach House, and got a great seat on the patio with a view of the lake and beach. After dinner we walked down the pier to the giant lighthouse at the mouth of the channel.
The rest of the evening we sat on the beach and watched the sunset, the perfect way to end the weekend!
