Vessi Footwear - Review

When I say these shoes are waterproof, I don’t just mean that when it rains your socks wont get soggy. I mean if you stand in water, have to walk through the Toronto slush, or if you actively enjoy jumping into puddles, your feet will stay 100% warm and dry the whole time.

Jordan and I went on a hike last weekend to Hoggs Falls in Flesherton Ontario, and I thought that would be the perfect opportunity to test out my Vessi sneakers! To reach the waterfall we had to walk down a snowy trail, up and down hills, and then eventually climb down a rock wall. Since they are so lightweight and are slip resistant, my Vessi sneakers made it really easy for me to get down the rock wall to the waterfall. Although they are slip resistant, you have to be careful walking on extra slippery surfaces. If you watched my Instagram story, you would have watched me slide down some hills, the trail was very icy.

Vessi Footwear is based out of Vancouver, BC, and is an eco friendly brand that makes their shoes with all vegan materials. The material that makes them waterproof is called flash knit material. They way it works is there are millions of little holes in the fabric that let moisture and heat out, but don’t let water leak in. Water literally just slides right off the shoe.

Not only are these shoes waterproof, but they are also very breathable and lightweight. Because of the soft material in the shoe, my feet stayed comfortable throughout the whole hike. Despite having to walk through snow and slush, my feet were never cold. Coming from someone who always has ice cold feet, this is one of the best features about the shoes. The shoes held up against the cold snow and slush, but I wanted to see if they would keep my feet dry even if they were completely underwater. Before we left, I gave my Vessi’s the ultimate test and stood in the river that flows beside the trail. They passed my test and as long as you don’t submerge your shoe past the ankle hole, your feet will stay 100% dry!

The shoe itself fits tight, but if you wear a half size I would suggest sizing down because you don't want them to be too loose. I definitely would recommend these shoes to anyone looking for a great versatile sneaker, they’re perfect for any season or activity. These shoes are amazing if you love spending time by the water, walk to school/work but don't want to wear heavy boots. Vessi’s are also perfect for travelling since they are so lightweight and comfortable. I'll definitely be wearing mine all summer at the boat and bringing them with me when Jordan and I go to Vancouver and Banff/Calgary.
